on March 10th, 2008How long it takes to write a post !???
The people at WordPress.org are supposed to release their new version of WordPress, version 2.5 today.
And all loyal fanboys are waiting to see it being announced but there is no word from them yet. Even people from WeblogToolsCollection did not know that it is not coming out today.
I think they are still no ready to release this version, but how long it takes to write a single line post telling the loyal people that it is not going to be released today.
It is a highly irresponsible behavior, I would say.
Update : It seems March 10th was a tentative date and is not written in stone. Anyway I will stop waiting for any release hereafter.
What are your thoughts?

I don’t know that I would call it irresponsible, but it definitely is annoying to not post something. It’s already 8pm CT and nothing…

I think don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
Annoying, maybe. But a lot of people are working for no pay to give you something for free.
(Okay… some of them are being paid….)
Yeah, this is scandal. Someone sue them. I mean, everything is released free and is continuously developed by volunteers, and yet they dare delay their release without telling anyone!!!!
This is highly irresponsible!!!!
</sarcasm>
Since it was blindingly obvious to anyone who glances at the mailing lists or even uses wordpress.com that the release wasn’t going to happen on schedule, they’re probably assuming that everyone who cares already knew.
Thanks for stopping by my friends .
Yes I am on the testers email list too, but I expected someone from the team, like Matt / Ryan to write a post about the delay.
I completely understand the fact that it is a volunteer job and nobody gets paid, but I still believe they should keep the people informed, otherwise that Roadmap page has no meaning to it.
Sadish,
March 10th wasn’t so much a tentative date as it was a target date. You aim for it, but sometimes you miss.
I partially agree with you that when March 5th or 6th came and went and there wasn’t even a Release Candidate ready, then maybe some kind of word could have been released. With all the hype leading up to this release, it wouldn’t have hurt to put some kind of notice out.
I am glad that they didn’t RUSH a release out simply because an artificial date arrived. I want a product that is ready, not one that needs to be patched a week later.
For those on the mailing list WP-Testers, we were aware of the shunted back release date, and it was made public on the trac, where the due date was changed.
They are still ironing out the little problems, so we all get the best release when it is out.
RC2 is a great bit of kit though, upgrade to that.

I am still waiting for the new update to trickle through and hear everyone’s feedback on it. I am excited and can’t wait to upgrade!
